Jacoub Reyes

Jacoub Reyes

Jacoub Reyes is the current Artist in Residence at the property Midtown 24 located at 700 SW 78th Ave in Plantation, Florida. Reyes is a printmaker, installation artist and community art educator. He holds a BFA in Drawing and Printmaking from the University of Central Florida.

From the sides of forgotten buildings to interactive handmade structures, Reyes’ installation work incorporates sound recordings, prints, and video elements that meld personal histories with global shifts. Through this method, he can prioritize bridging the gap that connects our present and past with the hope of preventing historic recurrences. His work, built from found objects, holds and preserves history that viewers can experience firsthand.

In his current practice, Reyes finds and makes materials and tools as part of an experimental aspect in his process. He salvages and transforms found wood and carves detailed large-scale allegorical woodcuts.

Jacoub will be offering an authentic and timely view into the arts through various mediums, histories, and hands-on learning. His classes for children and adults at Midtown 24 will focus on native and invasive plant species within the local area.
